Monument dedicated to victims of years 1932-33 famine. The monument is erected in Vyshgorod, year 2008. The monument is 4 meters high. Materials: granite, bronze. The suthors are Boris Krylov and Oles Sidoruk. The architector is V. Klimik. Ears and millstones are the bread of life. The ears wraped in a prickle wire are a symbol of artificial, violent hunger. Here is the bread, so desirable, but unattainable, taken away, a prisoner. It can't be reached nor can it beused. Broken millstones underline the fury, the cruelty, the nonsense of performers of this frightful action . It wasn't enough to take away the bread, they needed to destroy the tools that are connected to it, to destroy even hope and possibility to have it one day. back to "Monumental sculpture" |
